Finn
M. W. Caspersen, 61, formerly was chairman
and chief executive officer of Beneficial
Corporation from 1976 to 1998 when
Beneficial merged into Household
International. During his tenure, the market
capitalization of Beneficial Corporation
grew from $480 million to $8.8 billion, an
18-fold increase. He is a graduate with
honors from The Peddie School, Brown
University, and the Harvard Law School.
As a political independent, he is active on
the local, state and national level and
serves as moderator of the Shelter Harbor
Fire District in Rhode Island. He is past
chairman of the New Jersey Transportation
Trust Fund, past co-chairman of Prosperity
New Jersey, and current chairman of Save
Ellis Island!
Mr. Caspersen is a national leader in the
field of education. He was a trustee of the
New Jersey Independent College Fund and the
New Jersey State Board of Higher Education,
and is a trustee emeritus of Brown
University. He is chairman of the board of
The Peddie School and a member of various
Harvard University committees, including
chairman of the Harvard Law School Dean's
Advisory Board. He is also a director of the
John Carter Brown Library in Providence, and
the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York
City. He has received numerous honorary
degrees and awards.
He is an active conservationist and is a
member of various conservation organizations
and charitable foundations. A long-time
equestrian sportsman, he is President
Emeritus of the United States Equestrian
Team (USET), former chairman of the
Gladstone Equestrian Association, and an
honorary life-time officer of the Royal
Windsor Horse Show of the United Kingdom.
Mr. Caspersen is currently chairman of the
Hodson Trust, a Maryland Trust, which has
given over $118 million to Maryland
institutions of higher education, chairman
and chief executive officer of Knickerbocker
LLC, a Delaware private management firm
overseeing the accounting and investments of
various trusts, foundations and individuals,
chairman and chief executive officer of
various Florida, Rhode Island, Delaware and
New Hampshire real estate holding companies,
and chairman of Westby Corporation, a
privately-held agricultural conglomerate.

Dr. Timothy Hosea
Chief Executive Officer and President, PNRA
As president of the PNRA, Hosea is
responsible for overseeing the growth and
success of the rowing programs at the Finn
M. W. Caspersen Olympic Rowing site,
including the US Olympic Team, the Mercer
Junior Rowing Club, the PNRA-Resolute Summer
Rowing Camps, the Mercer Masters Program,
and the community-based learn-to-row
programs for disadvantaged youths in Central
New Jersey. With all these programs working
together, under the same roof, the Caspersen
Center will continue to draw top rowing
talent from around the country and will
remain as one of the most unique training
centers in the world.
Dr. Hosea has a B.A. from Harvard
University, and received his M.D. from the
University of Cincinnati College of
Medicine. He did his residency in Orthopedic
Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital in
Boston. Since 1985 he has been the attending
Orthopedic Surgeon at Robert Wood Johnson
University Hospital and St. Peters
University Hospital in New Brunswick. He is
also on staff at Princeton University
Hospital in Princeton.
Dr. Hosea is no stranger to rowing. Hosea
rowed in one of the most dominant Harvard
crews of the 1970's. During his tenure he
won a gold medal at the Nile International
Regatta, Cairo & Luxor, Egypt in 1972. His
crew also captured The Ladies Challenge Cup
at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta in
Henley-on-Thames, England in 1973. In 1997,
he received the Jack Kelly Award from the
United States Rowing Association. The Kelly
Award is one of the highest honors given by
the United States Rowing Association. It
recognizes superior achievement in rowing,
service to amateur athletics, and
professional success.
Since 1975, Dr. Hosea has been a member of
the American Medical Association. He is also
a member of numerous other organizations
including New Jersey Medical Society,
American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons,
Leadership New Jersey, U. S. Olympic Sports
Medicine Society, and the United States
Rowing Association.
In addition, Dr. Hosea has presented in both
national and international meetings. He has
spoken about a topics ranging from back pain
to ankle injuries.
Dr. Hosea has also contributed to articles
about sports injuries, most notably the
article, "Rowing Injuries" published in the
Postgraduate Advances in Sports Medicine.

John J.P. "Jack" Weir
PNRA VICE-CHAIRMAN AND TREASURER
Jack
Weir is responsible for budgeting, pay-roll,
and financial planning for PNRA. He also
assists in the planning of all major PNRA
rowing events held on Mercer Lake and was
Executive Director of PNRA from 2000 to
2002.
Jack was an employee of NBC Television for
forty years, eventually concluding his
career as Vice-President of Operations for
NBC's Olympic Division. During his career he
oversaw television operations for NBC News
as well as for the 1980, 1984, 1988, 1992,
and 1996 Olympic Games.
Besides rowing, Jack is an enthusiast of the
Equestrian World and enjoys going to the
theatre.

Kay Worthington
Executive Director

Kay's role with
PNRA is one of special projects. She will be
working to develop the Outreach for
Disadvantaged Youth as well as some
administrative details with the
organization.
Kay was a 9-year veteran of the Canadian
National and Olympic rowing teams, who,
together with her teammates, won two gold
medals in the Olympics in Barcelona in 1992
in the women's four and eight. After
competing as an athlete, Kay joined the
broadcast team of the Canadian Broadcasting
Corporation (CBC) as their rowing analyst
for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and the
2000 Olympics in Sydney. Kay has also done
broadcast work for ESPN and Oxygen Media in
rowing.
Kay graduated from the University of Toronto
with an Honors Bachelor of Arts degree in
International Relations and is currently
studying for her Master's degree in the same
discipline at NYU.

Sean McCourt
Director of Programs & Events, PNRA and Head Coach,
MJRC

Sean
McCourt is the Head Coach for the Mercer
Junior Rowing Club and is responsible for
the oversight and training of all crews. He
is also responsible for organizing and
overseeing the PNRA-Resolute Summer Camps
and all regattas on Mercer Lake.
Sean began rowing in high school at St.
Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia. He went on to
row for Boston University, where he
graduated in 1999 with a B.S. in Secondary
Education, and stroked the BU Varsity
Heavyweight Eight for two years. During that
time he was selected to attend the US
Pre-Elite Team camp in 1998, Lightweight
Selection in 1999 and was runner up in the
2000 US Senior Lightweight Pair Trials.
Sean's coaching experience includes the
McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee
where his freshman crew went undefeated. He
also coached for St Joseph's Prep, where his
crews achieved victories at the Head of the
Charles, The Stotesbury Cup, Philadelphia
Catholic League and the City Championships.
Sean, who is a Level III US Rowing Certified
Coach, has coached MJRC crews since the
program's inception in February of 2002.
Under his watch Mercer has developed into a
nationally competitive team.

Troy Kepper
Novice Women's Coach, MJRC

Troy began rowing in the fall of 1997 for
Leon Crew in Tallahassee, Fl. Although
Troy was in the second novice boat his first
year, he was the only sophomore in the
Varsity boat the following year.
During his junior year, Troy earned a silver
medal in the Varsity Four at USRowing
Invitational. He followed this
performance up by being selected for the US
Jr National Team. His coxed pair won a
silver medal at the Jr. World Championships
in Zagreb, Croatia that summer. As an
undergrad, Troy attended University of
California, Berkeley. His freshman
crew finished fourth place at the IRAs
(Nationals). The next year Troy made
the JV eight and won the National
Championship. His final two years were
spent in the Varsity Eight, where he earned
back to back bronze medals at the IRA.
Troy was
selected to train with the National Team in
2005 and earned a spot on the World
Championship Team where he earned a silver
medal in Gifu, Japan. In 2007, Troy
rowed in the first place US eight during the
Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil.
Currently,
Troy is training with the US Men with the
hope of being in the Olympics in 2008.

Megan
McCourt
Varsity Women's Coach, MJRC

Megan began her rowing career in the fall of
1993 for the Los Gatos Rowing Club in
California. In 1995, she raced in the first
USRowing National Youth Invitational in the
V4+, placing 5th.
After graduating from Lincoln High School in
San Jose, CA, Megan went on to attend and
compete for UC Berkeley (Cal). She won 3rd
place in the Varsity 8+ event at the first
ever NCAA Rowing Championships in 1999. The
following year, her boat went on to take 4th
at NCAA’s.
While in college, Megan pursued her National
Team aspirations by attending Pre-Elite
camps in the summers and racing with
National Team at the Henley Royal Regatta in
England, as well as a World Cup in Lucerne,
Switzerland.
In 2001, after earning her BA in Psychology,
Sociology, and Education from Cal, Megan
took some time off from rowing and taught
4th grade in Campbell, CA. She also coached
the Los Gatos Rowing Club’s novice girls to
a successful season, ending with a gold
medal finish in the N8+ at Southwest
Regionals.
In the spring of 2001, Megan was invited to
come to Princeton, NJ and try for a seat on
the US National Team. That summer she made
her first team as a member of the Women’s
8+. Megan has competed in seven World Cups,
five World Championships, and one Olympic
Games.
At the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece,
Megan won a silver medal in the Women's 8+.
Her boat also set a new world record
(5:56:55) in the heat against Romania.
In 2005 Megan was named to the Women's Eight
for the World Championships in Gifu, Japan,
where she finished fourth. After
taking 2006 off to pursue her Master's
Degree she returned to competitive rowing
and was selected to the Women's Four for the
World Championships in Munich, Germany.
Her boat went on to win a Gold Medal in
their event. Megan is now retired from
competitive rowing and enjoys giving back to
the sport by working the
MJRC athletes.

Nick Anderson
Varsity Men’s Coach, MJRC

Nick began rowing with the Cornell
University Lightweight Team and then was the
varsity coxswain for three years with the
Heavyweight Men's team. While at Cornell he
was a three time varsity letter winner, and
in his senior year, was the recipient of the
Robert Ackerman Award.
Following graduation Nick continued his
rowing career with the US National Team,
where he raced with every coxed boat class
on the men's team at the FISA World
Championships (Heavyweight Eight, Coxed
Pair, Coxed Four and Lightweight Eight). He
has collected gold medals from 1997, 1999,
2000 World Championships as well as the Pan
American Games. He also won a Bronze Medal
at the 1998 World Championship respectively.
Nick started coaching in 2002 when he
co-founded the Mercer Lake "All Star" Rowing
Club (MLARC) with former MJRC coach Bill
Carlucci. The MLARC has succeeded in
producing boats and members that have gone
on to represent the US in the 2002, 2003,
2004, and 2005 World Championships. Nick
has also been a member of the US National
Team World Championship coaching staff.
This spring is Nick’s third season coaching
the MJRC boys.

Ned Del Guercio
Varsity Women’s Coach, MJRC

Ned began rowing in the spring of 1998 at
St. Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia. During
his tenure he won Gold in three Stotesbury
Cup Regatta's, 3 SRA National Championships,
and coxed an undefeated senior season
resulting in a Gold medal at the USRowing
Youth Invitational. That summer he was named
to the United States Junior National Team
and coxed the Men's 8 to a 7th place finish
at the World Championships in Duisburg,
Germany.
As an undergrad DelGuercio attended Rutgers
University where he earned a B.A. in
Sociology and coxed the Varsity Heavyweight
8 for three years. He was part of the 2003
Varsity Crew that finished 6th at the
Eastern Sprints and went on to reach the
final of the Henley Royal Regatta in
England. He was elected Captain of the
Heavyweight Squad his senior year and was
the recipient of the "20 More" Award for
persistence and dedication.
Ned completed a very successful summer by
winning a gold medal in the men's eight at
the Pan American Games and competing in the
US Coxed Four at the World Championships in
Munich, Germany. He is learning
everyday from the U.S. coaches and looks to
bring this valuable experience to the Mercer
Junior Program.

Colin Farrell
Varsity Men's Coach, MJRC

Colin joined the Mercer Juniors in the
spring of 2006 as the Novice Boys Coach. He
is responsible for identifying, developing,
and instructing all future varsity athletes.
Colin began rowing in high school at St.
Joseph's Prep in Philadelphia. Colin had
much success at the Prep, including wins at
the SRA, Stotesbury, and the US Rowing
Invitational. From the Prep, Colin continued
onto Cornell University, where he graduated
from in 2005 with a B.S. in Psychology.
While at Cornell, he was a two-time captain
of the Lightweight Men's Crew, leading the
Varsity to a silver medal at the 2005 IRA.
His senior year, the Athletic Director
awarded Colin the Mario St. George Boiardi
'04 award for leadership.
Currently Colin rows for the US National
Lightweight Team. He
competed in the lwt 4- at the
World Championships in Eton, UK in 2006.
This past summer he represented the US in
the lwt 4- at the World Championships in
Munich, Germany. Hopefully we will see
Colin in Beijing, China during the summer of
2008.
